Turning off Message Board

Is there anyway to turn off the message board? The only thing it is ever used for is for bitching and complaining, about how Fanball sucks

Knew about that. Just wanted a way to turn it off instead of denying access to users.

Um, maybe because it does suck and Fanball has yet to do anything about all the problems?

Unfortunately there isn't a way to turn of the message board, you can only block owners from using it as was suggested in antoher post.

What's the difference between turning it off and denying access to users? By turning it off, you are denying access to users so in the end, it's the same exact effect. The only difference would be that you as commissioner could go in and post notices, while the rest of the owners wouldn't be able to complain anymore. I think that would work out better anyway.

There are very few global issues at this time. If your league is having problems it is likely specific to your league. We didn't find any trouble tickets for you. LMAO. Read the boards. The majority of the problems are already known to you guys and you are either "trying to resolve them" or the problems are from your "upgrade" where you removed numerous features that were highly useful. I'll name a few that I can remember:

Setting Future Lineups
Commissioner Breaks Ties (by this I mean being able to click on one of the teams and saying they won instead of having to adjust the score)
Player Information Pages missing information and links that are useful
Disappearing/Reappearing/Randomly Changing scores on Live Scoring
Issues with scoring after the week is over
Confusing wording on various commissioner controls
Missing Help pages (click on the Info-Help link on any page and you get "Coming Soon" instead of useful information)
Missing FAQs
Missing Tutorials

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. There are many, many more and if you logged on to the forums more than once every couple of weeks and read more than the last half dozen threads, you would see what problems people are having. Maybe if you actually gave updates every few days or once a week instead of every two weeks or more, people would have a bit less of a problem.

Luckily, my league has not had too many major issues this year, but I get on the boards every day and see the multitude of problems others are having. Next year, I'm moving the league to a different site unless I get voted down by the other owners. I won't bring my service back to a company that treats it's customers the way you have treated the commissioners and owners on Fanball.

Very well written. They have fixed most if not all of the problems we were having, but not having the ability to set future lineups really p1sses off everyone in my league, including me. Is it too hard to just let us view future weeks and set a freaking lineup? Every other site i have ever used (including this one in the past) lets you do that.

I agree.

Also, they may have "fixed" issues, but they also disabled or rolled-back features that we had last year. With all the ads on this site, you would think they could hire a few extra programmers; and, if the ads aren't making them that much extra income, why bother putting them on the site at all? It's just a mess, what they have done.

I'm not saying they're not valid requests, but they are not global issues, any more than not being happy with, say, the structure MS Word Help or the navigation on your online banking page is a global issue.

Can you set future lineups?
Maybe you're league doesn't use Commissioner Breaks Ties, but I guarantee you that if it did, you wouldn't just be able to go in and decide who won. You'd have to adjust somebody's score.
Are you able to link to the players on a depth chart on a player's information page? Can you see the future schedule of player's on their information page?
When you click on the Info-Help link on any page, does it take you to a help scree?
Under the Help tab, do you get to FAQ and Tutorial pages or do you just get "FAQ will be coming soon" or "Tutorials will be coming soon?"

As a new legue to Fanball this year, it would have been highly helpful to have help pages when setting up our league. Even leagues that have been here for years could have used them because of all of the changes Fanball has made.

Now for the most part, none of these are "bugs." Almost everything in Fanball is working like it is intended. The problem is that how things work this year are different than last year. I know this because a friend used Fanball last year, not to mention all of the posts people have been making about the various changes.

So the issues that commissioners and owners are talking about are not the kind of issues Fanball is talking about. That is the most unfortunate thing about Fanball this year. They are happy with how things are working because there aren't very many bugs. They don't care that things are confusing or that functionality that existed last year is missing this year. They don't care so much, in fact, that they have told people that they won't be restoring some of the things on my list (future lineups is one thing that will not be seen this year). They can take the time, however, to add links to Newsbreakers on the My Team and View Player pages.

Thanks Fanball. Very useful to be able to look at something that I can see elsewhere. Lets forget about the fact that I can't set a lineup for next week if I'm going to be out of town. Lets ignore all of the other things you took away this year and add in new things that no one really cares about. Either way, my league is gone next year.

OK, fine. We define global issue differently. I take it to mean that an existing function doesn't work as expected, not that something should be there and it is not.

Anyway, as far as the whole message board thing, at least mindhead can deny access as you all have suggested and then post the other idea in the Enhancements forum.
